This clinic is for little people just getting started. We will play games with and without a tennis racquet. These games help develop agility, balance and coordination. Basic tennis strokes are taught using a Red Ball.
Hot Shots (Orange Ball)
This group of tennis players will focus on the basic ground strokes, volleys and drop serves. Players develop the A,B,C's of tennis-- agility, balance & coordination while participating in exercises, drills and games. They begin Live-ball play on a regular court, using the "short-court" service boxes. This helps them develop touch and feel for the ball, and prepares them for future readiness with their net game.
This clinic is appropriate for players who have advanced through the Hot Shots group, and are able to perform the basic ground strokes, volleys and drop serves. These players use the standard green balls. The A,B,C's - Agility, Balance and Coordination are emphasized with stroke development in live-ball play and scoring. A 60 foot court is used while players begin learning the overhead serve. As players develop confidence and are consistent in their serves and strokes, they are invited to join the Saturday Junior Club Game Days.
This clinic is for players who have never played tennis, or have had just a few lessons. Basic ground strokes, volleys and serves are learned through drills & games. The A,B,C's - Agility, Balance and Coordination are emphasized with stroke development in live-ball play and scoring. As players develop confidence and become consistent in their serves and strokes, they are invited to move up to the Slicers Group.
Players in this clinic are able to rally in short court and full court. They perform with confidence using their basic ground strokes, volleys and serves. In this group players are placed in drill situations to begin learning the more advanced strokes -- overheads, slice, counterpunch, etc. After working on their shots throughout the week, it's a great opportunity to utilize them in Real Deal MatchPlay on Saturdays. Coaches will continuously asses their progress and advise when they are ready for UTR Event competition.
This program includes extensive drills to practice game-like situations, court positioning & strategies. Many players in this group are on middle school or high school teams, UTR Teams or Home school Teams. They have made a commitment to advancing their level of play and exhibit a strong work ethic. We encourage players to attend the Real Deal MatchPlay & UTR Events on Saturdays to implement what they learn in clinics throughout the week.
